What is a SSLED treatment?

SSLED Treatments (Seven Spectrum Light Emitting Diode) is a non-invasive light therapy that can treat a wide range of skin conditions successfully.

It has been proven to restore youth to ageing skin, encourage cellular rejuvenation, calm red capillaries and blemishes, as well as reduce acne and oily skin without producing heat in the tissues and destroying skin cells.

SSLED uses a scientific process that applies seven wavelengths within the visible light spectrum to send regulated light of a specific frequency into the dermal layer, providing energy for cellular metabolism to produce softer, clearer, more youthful looking skin.

What can I expect in a SSLED treatment?

Your BEP Certified Therapist will do a consultation to determine which of your skin concerns the SSLED treatments need to target and determine the colour, frequency, time and serum. You will then be prescribed a serum to be used in your SSLED treatments.

facial2

Your skin will be cleansed and exfoliated.

You will be positioned under the SSLED for the start sequence of your treatment.  The length of time varies depending on the skin condition being treated and may be from 5 to 20 minutes.

The serum prescribed will be applied.

The finishing sequence of the SSLED is then performed.  This may take 5 to 15 minutes depending on the skin condition being treated.

Following your SSLED treatment we will apply toner eye cream, moisturiser and sunscreen.

What is LED Theory?

Skin Rejuvenation using LED Phototherapy has been used in Europe for over 30 years and over 2500 scientific papers have been published worldwide on the subject.

In the 1980's NASA researched ways of growing plants in space without the benefit of the Sun and the Earth's atmosphere and discovered phototherapy as a way of doing this.  This research entailed shining light emitting diodes (LEDs) on plants to see if this regenerated their cells.

These studies were successful and with the help of the Department of Defence, other studies were done to determine the success of cellular regeneration in the human body through the use of LEDs.  The results of these studies confirmed that human cells do regenerate and in fact proved that woulds exposed to pulsed LED lights healed 4 to 5 times faster than usual.

Although NASA was not looking at ways to reduce wrinkles or make women look younger, we naturally came to the conclusion that it would regenerate the skin, when it was discovered that LED lights they were experimenting with as a means to grow plants in space, also helped astronauts recover faster from injuries sustained during the weightlessness in space.

Photo rejuvenation has become one of the beauty industries best kept secrets.  It is a non-invasive treatment that penetrates specific wavelengths of pulsed non thermal light energy into the skin to effectively reduce the appearance of skin ageing without the usual side effects or required down time of other treatments.

It works by giving the cell light energy that can be converted into fuel, much like the process of photosynthesis in plants, in turn providing even ageing cells the benefit of a full cellular metabolism to produce proteins and enzymes essential for building and repairing the skin.

Fore example, Red light stimulates the skin's receptors to convert that light into adenosine triphosphate (ATP) which allows even languid cells to produce various proteins, enzymes and lipids to boost collagen, elastin and other materials that rebuild and repair skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, reduce crow's feet and expression lines, reduce pigmentation from sun damage and reduce redness and flushing.

Or Violet light, which has been shown to destroy bacteria like the Acne reinfecting P3.

More research confirmed that with a series of treatments, LED could speed up healing, reduce inflammation and stimulate fibroblasts, with an increase in collagen production by as much as 200%.

Since LED photo-simulation can provide skin cells with the energy to heal faster and produce more collagen, it makes sense that it would also be able to imprive skin damage such as sun damaged, pigmentation and wrinkled skin.  Many trails have been conducted to prove this.

One trial published in the journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found that a 20 minute LED treatment for 12 weeks had a positive smoothing effect in 83% of subjects and improved skin tone for an incredible 91%!

The latest developments in LED include poly chromic (more than one wavelength blended at the same time) LEDs which when flashed at the right cycling have a multi level effect of far increased efficiency, somewhat like watering a garden with a hose that is dispensing droplets of moisture over trhe hole garden instead of a continual blast on an individual plant.

The BE SSLED treatments incorporate al these latest features.

What is the post SSLED treatment care?

A glass of water and sunscreen.  Must be at least an SPF 30+ applied before leaving the salon.  Sun screen must be reapplied throughout the rest of the day.

What can I expect in the days following the SSLED treatment?

The skin should immediately feel tighter and look more calm, which will lead to a reduction of fine lines.

The skin will improve further with every subsequent treatment and a course of 12 will be required to obtain more lasting results.

Small red marks or light erythema may appear during the procedure on a sluggish skin.  They will disappear in a few minutes.
